Activities generally offered as extra-curricular activities are incorporated into classes at Hervey Bay Special School including various community access programs each week.

Students develop their leisure and fitness skills as well as practise social skills and valuable life skills. Some of our older students assist in other classes. Our senior class runs the school's  tuck shop once a week and the 'Energy Coffee Shop' runs twice weekly.

Each year staff and students participate in the Maryborough Eisteddfod. This is the opportunity for our students to sing, dance, move and present creative performances.

During August, Hervey Bay hosts the Ocean Festival. Part of this festival is the annual Whale Parade. Hervey Bay Special School staff and students work tirelessly each year to create an amazing float to enter in the parade's 'Environmental' section. This category demands that each float is made of at least 50% recycled materials.

Students participate in school based work experience each week as well as developing their skills in the wider community.
