Welcome to the official website for Hervey Bay Special School. We are a Queensland Department of Education P–12 State Special School, located in the beautiful Fraser Coast area.
As the Principal, I am very excited to be leading a school community that is actively working towards building strong parent and community partnerships. These partnerships underpin our school motto Learning Together, Growing Together.
Our school is organised into distinct age appropriate cohorts:
- Early Years Juncture—Prep to Year 2
- Primary Juncture—Year 3 to Year 6
- Secondary Juncture—Year 7 to Year 10
- Senior Juncture—Year 11 to Year 12
At Hervey Bay Special School, learning opportunities and experiences are designed to be challenging but also achievable, so that every student can succeed. Our school prioritises developing the communication capabilities of all students whilst delivering the Australian Curriculum in age-appropriate ways. Our Senior students work towards attainment of their Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA) though school-based curriculum instruction and work opportunities within the local community.
