Hervey Bay Special School provides an educational program to support students from Years Prep-12 with a suspected or verified disability. Students who attend Hervey Bay Special School must have an intellectual disability as their primary disability. Students may have an additional disability including autism spectrum disorder, physical impairment, hearing or vision impairment.

For children of compulsory school age, enrolment is subject to the process outlined in Education Queensland's procedure, Enrolment in State Primary, Secondary and Special Schools (PDF, 309KB).

Parents and carers of children with disabilities who are of compulsory schooling age (five years to school leaving age) should contact their child’s current school’s Guidance Officer to discuss eligibility in the first instance. For students outside of Queensland or those in Early Childhood settings please contact the Principal for details of the enrolment process which involves regional office approval.Students enrolled at Hervey Bay State Special School may be eligible for transport assistance. Please contact the school for further information.

2025 Enrolments

For Parents and Carers interested in enrolment for your child in 2025, applications will be considered in Semester 2, 2024. 

Transition supports are available in consultation with your current education provider, subject to students meeting the eligibility requirements.
